How to Add a Sender to the Safe Senders List in Microsoft Outlook?

One thing that can happen when using Microsoft Outlook is that some important messages will be directed to the Junk Email Folder. As a business, is something that you want to avoid at all costs. Otherwise you could end up missing important messages from new and potential customers because not many people bother going through junk mail. The good news is that you can add addresses to the Safe Senders list.  Doing this ensures that messages from these addresses do not automatically get discarded. 

Adding addresses to the Safe Senders list in Outlook 365 

The following is how to add an email address to the safe senders list in Microsoft Outlook 365;  

  1. Open Outlook and click on the Settings icon.  
  2. Scroll down and click on View all Outlook settings 
  3. Click on Junk email
  4. Now you need to go to Safe senders and domains. Click on the Add button there.  
  5. Type in an email address and press on enter on your keyboard.  
  6. Click on the Save button.

Adding Safe Senders in Outlook for desktop 

The above instructions highlighted how to add email addresses to the Safe Senders list in Outlook 365. But what if you are using the desktop version of Outlook? The following is how you can add an address to Safe senders;  

  1. Log into Outlook on your desktop.  
  2. On the Home Tab, click on Junk to the top left of the Access toolbar.   
  3. Click on Junk Email Options 
  4. Next, click on Safe Senders 
  5. Click on the Add button and type in the address that you wish to add to the safe list.  
  6. Click on the OK button and then click on Apply.  

Why add an address to the Safe Senders list?
